June 2, 2026 - Driftwood Dragonfly Wire Workshop with Laura! (Register Here)
Join award-winning, international wire artist Laura Ouimet as she guides us through the process of making a 3D "messy wrap" wire dragonfly sculpture! To complete your project, you'll mount your sculpture on a unique piece of driftwood. Throughout the class, Laura shares the tips & tricks and cool science behind working with wire. All supplies are included for this project, and no prior experience working with wire is necessary.

Cost: $80+tax=$84.00 per person, includes all supplies needed to make a beautiful wire wrapped dragonfly on a piece of driftwood. This class must be paid in full upon registration due to the cost of course materials and time required to prepare for the class. Pricing includes all materials and instruction.
What to Bring: Students are asked to bring well fitting gloves. The wire can be greasy so please be prepared to get dirty.
Note: This class is for ages 12+. For any children, they must have parental support for the class and both must enroll in the class.
June 5, 2026 - Fused Glass Lantern Workshop! (Register Here)
Join us for a cozy, creative evening making your own beautiful two-panel fused glass lantern. This beginner-friendly class lets you design custom glass panels that will glow warmly in a lantern you will be excited to display at home, or give as a gift!
Cost: Depends on the design, between $70-$85+tax per person, includes all supplies needed to make a lantern with TWO fused glass art panels (the other two panels are just regular glass panels).
This class must be paid in full upon registration due to the cost of course materials and time required to prepare for the class. Pricing includes all materials, instruction and firing. After the workshop, the piece is taken to be fired, and turnaround for delivery of the lantern back to the shop for pickup is 3 weeks.
Note: There is not a set design for your panels - you have the creativity to create anything you like! This class is great for beginners, no experience required!
June 13, 2026 - Traditional Knife Carving with Xander from Puhlmann Supply Company! (Register Here)
Discover the art of traditional knife carving in this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop led by instructor Xander Puhlmann. Learn foundational knife carving techniques as you shape and refine your very own songbird perched on a rustic stump. This class is designed for beginners, so even if you have never touched carving supplies before, this class is for you!
Time: 10:00 AM Start - 2:00 PM End
Meeting Location: Backyard Birds Nature Shop (15-100 King Street, Spruce Grove, AB)
Cost: $120+tax=$126.00 per person, includes all tools and supplies needed to make one songbird on a stump AND your own high quality carving knife to take home.

This class is limited to 8 participants to allow for lots of one-on-one instruction.
What to Bring: Xander provides the wood for carving, the knives which you will get to keep, as well as all of the carving tools you will need. He does ask that you please bring a bath towel to carve your piece on, as well as a hand towel to wipe your hands on as you are working! Also, your clothes may get dirty as we work, so please wear something you don't mind getting a little dusty!

Make your own 12" or 24" monarch-style butterfly, painted any colour you like, and then hangers added and treated to be put outdoors on the fence, shed, or wall!

July 12, 2026 - Custom Tote Bag Lino Stamp Workshop! (Register Here)
Join us for a guided, beginner-friendly, print making workshop! It will be a wonderful half day spent lino-cutting and tote printing! You will get to carve a lino block, print your design onto a tote bag, and take home your beautiful handmade pieces! No experience required to take this course, as instructors Amber and Kenna will take you through the class start-to-finish.

July 24, 2026 - Create Your Own Clay Pollinator Pool/Bee Bath! (Register Here)
Join us to create your very own handmade clay bee bath, painted how you like, and then put in the kiln to finish the piece. Your backyard pollinators will love having a shallow dish full of ridges and little drinking spots to enjoy without the risk of drowning! It'll be a fun and creative night out! Grab a friend, and we'll see you then!
Cost: $45+tax = $47.25 per person, includes instruction and all of the materials to create your own hand built AND painted clay piece!
