Join us for an evening of poetry, nature, and community at A Gathering of Wild Words: Nature Poetry Night. Hosted in collaboration between the Parkland Poets' Society and Backyard Birds Nature Shop, this special event invites local poets and nature lovers alike to come together and celebrate the beauty of the natural world through words. Enjoy readings of original poetry and selected nature-themed pieces, or bring along your own to share during the open mic portion. Whether you’re an avid writer, a quiet listener, or somewhere in between, we welcome you to take part in this cozy and inspiring evening.

October 9, 2025 - Fall Floral Pumpkin Decoupage Project with Alana! (Register Here)
Join us for a fun fall project to create your own 6" craft pumpkin, decoupaged with real pressed flowers! Pumpkins are cream coloured, but you can paint your pumpkin to be any colour you like! The ones we are using are not real pumpkins, so they can be reused year after year!

October 17, 2025 - Concrete Rose Skull Statue Painting Class with Sharla! (SOLD OUT)
Paint your own concrete rose skull statue (approximately 6" x 5" x 4") with the guidance of concrete guru, Sharla Forster! She will then take them back to her shop and clear-coat them to seal your paint job. Pick up of your completed concrete piece will be within 1-2 weeks of the date of the class.

October 18, 2025 - The Crow Show: A Celebration of Corvids (RSVP Here)
Join us this October for The Crow Show: A Celebration of Corvids. This is a one-day event held in partnership with the Spruce Grove Public Library, Clay Essence, and Backyard Birds. The event features art, education, and a touch of mischief. Local artists will showcase and sell crow- and raven-inspired creations, from books and baubles to handmade wares. Learn all about the intelligence and mystery of corvids through live presentations. Kids can enjoy themed crafts, and all ages will appreciate corvid-inspired snacks and activities. This event brings together creativity, community, and a little murder (of crows, of course). More details to come!
