These Native (To Alberta) Wildflower seeds have been source-identified and hand collected in Southern Alberta by Wild About Flowers.
Meadow Blazing Star is a tall, striking perennial recognized for its dense spikes of deep purple, star-like flowers, which bloom from the top down in late summer. Unlike some blazing star species, it produces an abundance of nectar, making it one of the best plants for attracting butterflies, especially monarchs, which flock to it in large numbers. As the season progresses, goldfinches and other seed-eating birds feast on its ripened seeds in fall and winter. Its slender, lance-shaped leaves grow along sturdy, upright stems, adding vertical structure to prairie plantings and pollinator gardens.
Meadow Blazing Star is well suited for wildflower meadows, naturalized plantings, and low-maintenance urban or rural gardens where late-season color and pollinator support are priorities. Its deep taproot helps prevent erosion and enables it to withstand drought conditions, while its rough-textured foliage offers strong resistance to deer and other herbivores.
